If your family is looking for social support, fun, and enriching educational activities, consider joining the Albuquerque Homeschool Co-op. Typical events on our calendar include park days, classes, parties, and field trips. We welcome families regardless of religious belief or educational philosophy. Here are a few highlights from the local resources that can be found on this web site:

 Summer homeschool classes

NM Museum of Natural History. For the 2006 summer season, the museum is offering classes especially for homeschoolers, including prairie dog biology and research, wild mustang week (with horseback riding and overnight camping), fossil hunting, and more. Click for more about these classes.

Explora Children's Science Museum. Is offering classes just for homeschoolers starting in August. These are 14 weekly classes on a variety of topics, depending on the child's age. Click for more about these classes.

 Current events

El Rio! Rio Grande Culture. June 24, 11am to 2pm. Cochiti drum-making and stories with Arnold Herrera. Make your own drum! Free. Location: Maxwell Museum at UNM. Contact: 277-5963. More events around town.

 Fieldtrip destination

National Atomic Museum. ZOOMzone for Grades K-4th. Tours for older students also available. Students can become scientist by trying out cool puzzles and brain teasers and by tackling fun challenges. Maximum 25 students. Location: 1905 Mountain Rd. Contact: 245-2137. More tours and fieldtrips.

Rosetta Stone. Highly praised language-learning software used in schools and corporations all over the world; available for dozens of languages. Its immersion method taps the skills we use to master our native language. Retailing for over $300, but the Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Library offers it for free. More curriculum suggestions.
