Duke City fencing club is opening this month and are offering fencing classes to homeschoolers. I inquired about a class for young children (my son is almost 6 and loves stuff like this). The director said that she'd be willing to do a homeschooling class for the age group 6 - 8 years old if there was enough interest. She needs a minimum of 6 children. Classes would be ongoing with a monthly fee and would most likely run 2 - 2:45, one day a week.
If you're interested, drop me an email. Thanks! Sharon

My son would love it as well! He is six years old, I showed him a picture yesterday of what it might be like and he was all over it! Please let me know, when and if there are enough to start the class and what day it might be! Thanks! Brijet777@hotmail.com

Wonderful! So far there are three families, possibly four, who are interested. I'll keep you up-to-date with the progress. Thanks! Sharon (Mother to Dane & Skye) |

Depending on what day the class is and how much it would cost, I might be interested. Please update me as soon as you know around how much and when. Thanks, Bridget |

Hi all, I've included the latest email from Toby, the director at Duke City Fencing. Look like the "mini-musketeer" class is a go! Sharon
Hi,
Just an update regarding the beginning of classes at Duke City Fencing.
The final coat of finish was placed on the floor today. This will take 72 hours to harden and, unfortunately, perhaps a few more days for the smell to dissipate. As soon as this occurs we will begin classes.
The "mini-musketeer" class for children 6 - 8 years, will be offered on Tues., Weds., and Thurs. from 1:45PM - 2:30PM. The cost is $50 per month for one class per week (and $60 for two classes per week). There is an annual club fee of 25$.
To register for any class, just arrive at the club at least 15 minutes prior to the listed start time. Any class may be attended free of charge for the first time.
One more email will be sent notify you of the opening This information will also be available on our web site http://www.dukecityfencing.net
Thank you for your continued interest.
Respectfully, Toby Tolley

Looks like the class is a definite go starting this week!
Hello,
Duke City Fencing will be open on Tuesday, March 8th at 12 noon.
All classes, including the mini-musketeers, will begin on that date.
(Note: the mini-musketeers classes will be limited to eight participants. Participants will be registered on a first come first served basis.)
Thank you for your continued interest and support!
Respectfully, Toby Tolley

Hi all, Just wanted to post a final follow-up to this thread. Dane (almost 6) attended his first class yesterday and loved it. Fencing is quite a formal sport with a bit of etiquette and discipline involved and it was a wonderful experience for him. Although he's usually highly energetic, he was all ears and listened very carefully as he was very interested in the whole thing. He can't wait to go back and has been talking non-stop about it! So if you're interested in this type of experience for you child, I highly recommend it! The instructor was very good with him and the facility was very nice and roomy. It's also very convenient, close to the freeway. Sharon |
