Short answer:  No.  Long answer:

In NM, kids are required to have 23 credits to graduate:

English - 4
Mathematics - 3 (one must be Alg I or higher)
Science - 3 (one with lab component)
Social Science - 3 (World Hist & Geog, US Hist & Geog, Gov't & Econ.)
Phys Ed - 1
Communication or Business Education - 1
NM Hist - .5
Electives - 7.5

---

However, if my child were applying to a good university, this is what I'd make sure she had:

24 credits:

English - 4
Mathematics - 4 (three must be Alg I or higher)
Science – 4
Social Science - 3
Phys Ed - 1
Communication or Business Education - 1
NM Hist - .5
Fine Arts - 2
Foreign Language - 3 (in same language)
Electives - 1.5

If the child is in high school right now, the rules are a little different, BTW:

English - 4
Mathematics - 3 (one must be Alg I or higher)
Science - 2 (one with lab component)
Social Science - 3 (World Hist & Geog, US Hist & Geog, Gov't & Econ.)
Phys Ed - 1
Communication or Business Education - 1
Electives - 9

That's less science and no NM hist.

I was wondering does anyone know if children who are homeschooled are eligible for the NM lottery scholarship? Or do you have to go to a state approved high school?

They are eligible.  They would need to take the GED and enroll in a NM college the first regular semester, (Fall or Spring) following completion of the GED.  Then they must maintain the GPA required, (I believe 2.5 or 3.0) to continue receiving it.

Somewhere there's a link to this info on the state web site. I'll try to look it up and post again, unless someone else knows it? Oh, oops. Looks like it's already posted at http://www.abqhomeschool.com/cgi-bin/blah/Blah.pl?b=1.7,m=1130299289.
