On the second Saturday of each month, Lowe's hosts a building workshop for children, free of charge.  I believe it starts at 10 a.m. and lasts one-hour.

On the first Saturday of each month, Home Depot offers the same sort of workshop between 9 a.m. and noon.  (It only lasts that long if there's enough interest.)

These are free programs and great for both genders.  Free aprons and eye protection are usually included and available for take-home.  Certificates are personalized and offered at the end for successful completion of the project.  Lowe's gives a patch and a sticker.  Home Depot gives a pin for clothing.  These are fun to collect and/or scrapbook.  Take your camera . . . it's a hoot!

Contact, Struggle and Change: Spain Meets the First Nations
July 21-22 from 10 am - 4 pm

From art to agriculture, music to medicine, Native and Spanish cultures
in New Mexico influenced each other in ways you may not have realized.
See how the Spanish learned new traditions from the Native Americans,
what they contributed to the Indians in return, and how some things be-
came a blend of both worlds. There will be demonstrations and presen-
tations by Native Americans both days.

Lavender and Herb Fair
July 28-29 from 10 am - 4 pm

Celebrate the revival of the lavender tradition in New Mexico! Alhucema -
lavender - was brought from Spain to the New World and coveted for its
many uses, from medicinal to flavorful. The Lavender and Herb Fair
has become one of the museum's most popular events. Visitors can
view the museum's herb fileds, make their own lavender "wand," hear ex-
pert presentations, buy lavender/herb products and even sample foods made
with lavender. Museum exhibits will be open..

(copied from "Yitlan"'s post)

I signed up my oldest for Circus Camp this July 30th- Aug. 3rd, 8:30-11:30am. It's for 5-15 year olds and they do a performance at the end of the week. It's $200 per camper and they will get to do some work on the trapeze (what my daughter is most excited about).  If your child is young, the owner does like to meet with the child first to determine if the child is where he or she should be (physically and personality-wise) to do well at the camp.

Rosalinda was a homeschooling mom for years!  Call her at 459-3385 for more info.
