Just wanted to pop in and introduce myself!

I am a new homeschooler to my 7 yo daughter.  Prior to this she was in private school and I don't feel public school will be able to challenge her.  We are unable to continue to keep her in a private school due to financial reasons, as I'm about to go on a year's maternity leave (maybe permanent) as of Sept 24th.  Prior to being a SAHM, I have been a special education teacher for the past 10 years.  I am truly, truly burned out by the public school system (especially APS) and am looking forward to being at home with my girls.

I hope to be able to join the homeschool co-op at some point in the future.  With working part-time and being hugely pregnant, I don't think I can make the commitment quite yet!    I know my DD would be thrilled to be part of a group though!

Congratulations on the expected arrival.  We'll look forward to meeting you when things slow down.  Two of our active members just had babies, and another is expecting one in October, in addition to others born this year, so your new little one will have plenty of friends in the group.

Don't fool yourself...you'll never be a SAHM.  You'll be driving from one place to another providing your children with wonderful learning opportunities...working just as hard or harder than any paid employee...but, the rewards are worth it.

We'll look forward to meeting you.

Great for you Julie!  Let us know how you are doing and how we can help.  Even if you can't get out and about anytime soon we can still provide support through the boards and email.  Welcome!

My name is Bridget.  I too have a daughter.(9)  I also have a son.(6)
I have been homeschooling for quite some time now.  I love what I do.
I will keep you in my prayers.  If you need anything, please let me know.
I know that may be a little strange sense we haven't met.  I would be happy to meet you if you like.  I just joined this group myself and I love the people I have met so far.
Please don't feel strange about asking for help.  That is why God put so many of us here on this planet.
Have a blessed day.   Bridget

Hi Julie! Nice to meet you. I hope you'll consider joining the co-op when you feel you have the energy! As Kari mentioned, we have a couple of pregnant moms in the group already, so you'd be right at home...
