Hi everyone,

My husband and I recently moved back to New Mexico after almost two years in California (Los Angeles area).  I've been homeschooling my daughter (11) for the last two years.  She attended a public school from 1st through most of 4th grade (Bandelier) but when we moved to LA, I decided to go ahead and do what I had been wanting to do all along and homeschool her.  We take an approach that falls closer to unschooling than strict homeschooling, but I enjoy meeting and talking to all homeschooling families.

I also have a son (2.5) and a stepson (12), who is visiting with us for the summer.  Our stepson might end up living with us permanently; that issue is sort of up in the air at this point.  He's been public-schooled (and daycared to death) up to this point and I think a transition to homeschooling might be challenging.

I realize this group is more for kids from 0-9, but my older kids don't have a problem being around younger children.  In fact, my daughter absolutely loves playing with little ones.

I am looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Thanks,
Kym

Hello Kym.  Welcome back to ABQ.

This group does provide many great opportunities.  If you haven't already done so, please be sure to contact Amy at ahomeschoolcoop@yahoo.com or Angelica at 896-8114 to learn more about our group.

I also have some older ones mixed in with my younger ones.  Mine are ages 2, 8, 10 and 12.  We'll look forward to meeting you soon.

Hi Kym...welcome back from me too!  I also have a stepson, he is 15 and does live with us all the time (his mother lives in town, less than a five minute drive away, but she just doesn't want to be a parent anymore).  Although he doesn't do well either academically or socially in APS, homeschooling him isn't an option for us.  A. he doesn't want to and B. he would drive me nuts!

I have a 5.5 yo dd and a 14 mo ds.  Like Kari said, email me at the yahoo address if you have any questions or need more information.
