Hello, My wife and I are very seriously considering homeschooling our oldest daughter (5 years old). We had some very good friends who homeschool their 4 children and had offered to homeschool our children when they became old enough, but unfortunately they have moved away recently.
Although my wife has her masters degree in educational counseling, we are not sure she would be able to handle the curriculum with our other daughter (3 years old) and a new baby on the way.
So, does anyone know or recommend someone who would be willing to take on a child for homeschooling. I appreciate any help you can give me.
I don't know the laws overly well in NM regarding this situation and I am sure it is done but I do not think it is legal unless you are the children's legal guardians or parents....I do not know but I am just throwing this out there. I am sure someone here knows more! Also, do not be discouraged by having multiple young children and homeschooling there are many here who do it...it works out eventually and your 5-year old is still going to be doing all the fun things that kids that age do! So there is no reason that the 3-yr old can not do some of those fun things also! There are play dates and there will be more science classes in the fall for the 5 yr old and there are a ton of moms out there who have multiple children under the age of 6 and are homeschooling. My first suggestion would be to come to a play date with your wife or have her come and see firsthand and talk to other parents...we all need support from other homeschoolers and this is the best way to get new ideas! Good luck!--Tabbi
NM state law does not allow people to homeschool other people's kids. I am sure there are those that do but it is definitely more than frowned upon by the state.
