The Schooltime Series  are low-cost ($4) events at Popejoy (UNM) geared towards school-aged children, and include many very interesting performances (ballet, music, theater). If you want to learn more, check out the other message on this board about the Schooltime Series. It include a link to their web site.

They've recently published their schedule for 2003-4 school year. I just got their brochure in the mail that has a reservation form in it. Many performances sell out fast, so I'm going to reserve tickets for myself and anyone else who wants to come (so we can sit together) BY THIS TUESDAY. You don't need to pay now, you just need to let me know that you want me to reserve seats for the performances you and your child(ren) want to go to.

Listed below are the performances I'm reserving seats for. Please reply to this message if you want me to reserve for you, too. That way, we can get seats together. If we get the reservations (that is, they aren't sold out), I'll be posting again asking you to send me a check (made out to UNM or whoever) to pay. Typically, I think we'll need to pay about 6 weeks before each performance. Their web site and my brochure describes each performance more fully. Grade level suggestions are listed for each performance. Each lasts about 1 hour. If you have questions, post here and I'll do my best to answer.

Hi Elizabeth,

Do we also need to purchase tickets for the babies? How are you planning on handling this issue with Ruby? I will be able to choose to bring either Kieran or Hanna or both depending on the date b/c of their preschool time, but Cameron goes where I go right now, so I'll need to be able to bring him along. Do you think that's really viable or will it be frowned on? Well, anyway, assuming I can bring him, please reserve us seats for the following performances:

Mathemagic (K-2) 10:15am, Thu 10/2/03 -- Myself, Cam, and Kieran only

Somei Yoshino Taiko Ensemble (G4+) - Japanese drum/dance - 10:15, Mon 11/3/03 -- all of us!

Nutcracker Ballet (G3+) 10:15am, Wed 11/26/03 -- Myself, Cam, and Hanna only

Mariachi Christmas (G3+) 10:15am, Wed 12/18/03 -- all of us!

Alley Cats - a cappella doo-wop harmony - (G4+) 10:15am, Tue 1/13/04 -- all of us!

Banana Slug Band - ecology concert Slugs at Sea - (G1-5) 10:15am, Fri 1/30/04 -- all of us!

Thank you,
Kristin

Does the theater allow the younger kids to go to the shows as well? (we had a theater in AZ that had an age limit, the younger (toddler and babies) were not allowed in at all. I would be interested in a couple of the shows. (the mathmagic kindergarten and the nut craker) There are 5 of us in our family, which includes Conner (our baby).

Sarah and Kristin, I don't know what the policies are about young children at Popejoy. I'll try to call them today and find out. I'm guessing that, if the youngsters ARE allowed, you would need to pay for them only if they required their own seat -- that is, they were not going to be in your lap. Assuming they say the youngsters can come, would you each be wanting seats for the little ones or not?

OK, I did check it out and here's what they say: You need a ticket for *every* person in your group, even babies. And very young children are allowed in the performances. So.... I know what tickets to buy for Kristin. How about you Sarah?

I hope I'm not too late...I'm just catching up with this board today.  The only two we can go to are the Alley Cats and Banana Slugs, so three for each show, please!

Michelle, I already sent off the request, but I padded it for each performance by a couple of tickets, so there's a good chance there'll be some left over for you guys. I'll let you know when the performance draws near. If you don't want to chance it, you can contact them your self and make a reservation. Web site is given in my earlier posting about Schooltime series.
