Does anyone have recommendations on a piano teacher? We're looking for a Suzuki method, preferably.
Also, does anyone have informaiton on using a language tutuorial like Muzzy, or a language teacher? We're looking into Spanish and French.
Thanks!

We take music classes every Saturday at UNM Music prep school. They also offer group classes piano and violin -- I'm pretty sure that violin at least is Suzuki. We love the music classes, and the prices are low, but the group setting and Saturday time might not be what you're looking for. Let me know if you want more info.
I was thinking of language classes myself. There are a couple of ads in the NM Kids magazine for group classes in ABQ. If you don't have a copy for NM Kids let me know and I'll try to track down that info for you. |

Hi, I would like more info on the music lessons, I've never heard of the Prep school. Also on the language lessons, I believe that classes are full now, but there is a Friday Co-op thru the Mountainside United Methodist Church. My kids take drama, biology, sewing, speech, and have taken other things there. It is not limited to members as they have kids coming from Glorieta to participate, and depending on the age of your children, they offer french and spanish that I know of. The lady in charge is Glenda Bachelor, 281-5549. Her husband is the pastor of the church, and they homeschool their 3 children. |

Here's the web site that describes the course offerings from the UNM Music Prep school: http://www.unm.edu/~finearts/outreach/fallclasses.htm . If you get on their mailing list (call 277-8816), they'll send you a brochure that describes the age ranges for each class, class times, etc.
The price for a full semester (I think about 14 weeks?) is $85 for once a week classes of approx 45-60 minutes. There's a $5 discount for each child if multiple siblings are enrolled, and they have baby/toddler classes of 30 minutes that are cheaper, something like $65.
We take both kids and one parent takes one kid to class, the other parent goes with the other. It's a fun Saturday outing, especially since now we can top it off with a trip to Explora. |

Thanks to all for the information on music and language. My son has enrolled at UNM Music Prep in the past, which is an awesome program. I was looking specifically for piano lessons for him because he is 6, and the Prep program requests 2nd grade up for piano.
If anyone knows of a private teacher they can recommend, I'd appreciate it so much.
I've heard the Muzzy language program is pretty good, and think I'll try that.
