For the longest time, the May calendar stated that we were going to meet today at the Rio Rancho Waterpark... until I checked this morning for directions and found the zoo in its place.
We're still going to go check it out. Maybe it's not open yet? Hope to catch you next time!

| NO outdoor pools or waterparks are open yet (except maybe The Beach? and Cliffs' water rides). I don't know if Rio Rancho's is indoor or outdoor. I'd prefer to go to Corrales, anyway. Now THERE is a fun waterpark! But it's outdoor and won't open until memorial day. |

I had thought that the zoo posting had been there for some time now. At least it was up there when I printed the calendar earilier this month. Did you find anything out about the water parks? -Kari |

Rio Rancho does have a waterpark. It is quite small, but cute. It is outdoors and I do not know whether it would be on yet or not. I would think it would, but hard to say.

Where is the Rio Rancho Water Park? I called the Rio Rancho Parks and Recreation but they only told me about the pools (Haynes and Rainbow) which do not open until May 29 and about the water play area at the Sports Complex on High Resort Blvd. She said she thinks the play area is open now and that it is a bunch of fountains and is free. Has anyone been there before? Is this the Rio Rancho Water Park? Shannon D. |

| Yes, the water park I had in mind is at the Rio Rancho Sports Complex. It's an outdoor area that has lots of sprinkers that turn on and off and the kids run around in them. The great things are: it's free, it has shady grass right next to it, it doesn't require intensive supervision for even very young toddlers, because nobody ever drowned in a sprinkler. My kids both loved it last year, as well as everyone in my playgroup; we went frequently, even though it's a 25-30 minute drive for us. I had heard that it didn't open until after Memorial Day, so I didn't do it. Sorry if I missed anyone at the zoo today, we arrived a little late. |
