As a co-op, we ask that everyone try to pitch in and help with activities. We charge no dues to be a member, so everything that happens gets done with volunteer labor!

I want to thank our many volunteers who've helped plan activities to enrich our lives as homeschoolers. Lisa, Angelica, Shelby, and Jennifer have helped organize fieldtrips. Kari and Shannon have organized playgroups and park days. Many of you have hosted craft group or organized other activities in your homes. Jessica has created a volunteer opportunity for us at a retirement home. Thanks to everyone who has posted on the message board, whether it was to introduce yourself, ask a question, or offer help or recommendations.

As our membership grows, so does our need for volunteers. Please read this list of opportunities and let me know if you can help us. It's ok if you want to make this only a short-term commitment.

Fieldtrip co-ordinator: Fanciest title, easiest job, earns the most thanks! Just take a look at our calendar and help us fill in the holes (we're aiming at two activities per week). We already have a detailed list of many fieldtrip opportunities in Albuquerque. All you need to do is spend a couple of minutes on the phone setting them up, and then either post them on the calendar or ask me to do it for you. This literally takes a few minutes a week at most to plan 1 or 2 fieldtrips per month.

Membership: Volunteer as contact person when new members want to find out about the co-op. This is great for you if you enjoy talking on the phone. I only ever get about 2-6 calls per month, since most new members just visit our message board. The calls are usually from mothers of young children looking to see if our co-op is the right fit for them. You can also post welcome messages when new members introduce themselves on the message board.

Outings/activities: Help fill in gaps in our calendar by sponsoring outings to the zoo, aquarium, rattlesnake museum, natural history mini-golf, or whatever interests you. All you need to do is plan an event, pick a date and time, and I'll add it to the calendar and announce it in the weekly newsletter.

Craft goup host. Would you be interested in hosting our monthly craft group for a single meeting? We have members all over the city, including westside and east mountain areas, and we like to vary the location to give everyone a chance to come. You don't need to supply the crafts (unless you want to), just provide a house where we can all meet and table(s) for the kids to do crafts at. If interested, please contact me.

Other? Are you interested in starting a monthly gardening group? An origami class? Whatever you are interested in doing, please consider inviting others in our group to join you. I'm happy to list your activity on our monthly calendar and announce it in the weekly newsletter.

Elizabeth,

I teach scrapbooking and I have classes for kids. I charge $10 to cover supplies. Kids leave with a decorated accordian folded card with 5 pictures. This class is best right near holidays, Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, Valentine's, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Grandparents Day, etc. Kids bring 6-10 photos. I show them how to crop and mount the pictures and I help them write something with each picture. This class is designed for kids that can handle scissors and can write. Younger kids just don't get a whole lot out of it.

I am also the Children's Music Minister for my church. I can teach an age appropriate music classes for newborns to 6 or 7.

let meknow if there is any interest.
