Basic arithmetic and algebraic skills are connected to corresponding geometry topics.
Pre-requisite: Without a calculator, student must be able to multiply fractions, add & subtract fractions with the same denominator. Add and subtract fractions with the same denominator. Add or subtract decimals when in columns. Can multiply decimals but cannot divide them with accuracy. Has seen percentages but only knows the simplest things about them.

The above 3 math classes will meet every Tuesday as well at Heights Cumberland Pres. Church, West of Wyoming on Academy, same times. Homework is required and will be assigned every night in order to “keep up” and not fall behind. ** This price is based on enrollment of at least 15 students.
Deadline to register for math is August 15th.
***The Remainder of the classes start September 9th***
High School Biology 3:30 to 4:30 Mid School Biology 4:30 to 5:30

Summary of class: I will be working with the ABeka curriculum but if you are using another curriculum that is fine. We will be doing a lot of dissection but I also want to try some other fun stuff. The cost of the class includes everything that is needed for the lab. (siblings or lab partners can share lab manuals so please let Lisa Silva know when you register for the class so she can pass the info on to me).
I have a tentative plan of: 9/9-11/4 Dissect earthworm, grasshopper, crayfish, starfish, frog, and do a lab on plants 1/4-4/7 Dissect fetal pig, cow eye, sheep heart, (possibly sheep’s brain depending on time), genetics (Genetically linked traits such as tasting-take home) and blood typing, there are other things I’d like to cover depending on time and resources.

| That's what I was thinking, but I wanted to check. I am debating putting Jordan in the sewing class, but have to see if I can work it into our schedule. She did many of the projects listed in sewing 1 and 2 last year. Do you know if the instrutor is using a book and if so, which one? |

Jessica
There is no book being used, this teacher is just one of those people that can go off of anything, even make wedding gowns. Due to Jordans age, you would have to show her the work already done be her to move her to the higher levels. There is the clause in the description that states that, just fyi. |

I am still not sure if we will be able to fit this in. But, I am glad you said that, because I hadn't even considered the option of skipping her up a level. But, if we are able to fit it in, I will have the teacher check out the things Jordan has made and she can make the call.
Thanks for all your work in setting all of these classes up every year. |

This was an attachment that went out to registered students but I wanted to share it in case there were questions.
Friday Homeschool Rules and Regulations:
This is being setup for reference should there be any questions regarding the classes or their structure.
All classes with the exception of math, are on Fridays. (See schedule for dates).
During the winter months we will follow the same schedule as that of the public schools. If there is a delay, we will be delayed as well, (usually it is a 2 hour delay, whereas there would be no speech class, all others would be held) if classes for the East Mtns are canceled, we too are canceled. Following this will eliminate questions and tons of phone calls.
Students will need to bring a sack lunch with them and clean up after themselves, please stress this to them, as we do not want to have a problem with this and there is no maid (read mom or dad here) to pick up after them.
It is important that all students get to class on time, and stay in class. Last year there were several instances where the students did not stay in the classes and were running around, screaming at each other and playing, making it difficult for the classes that were going on to be heard and concentrate. This will NOT be tolerated. Please send extra schoolwork with your students so that on their off time from a class they have something to do. Complaints turned in to me regarding disruptive behavior will result in 1.) A student being sent home with a note regarding this 2.) The student’s being sent home 3.) A student being sent home and not able to return after that.
As has been the policy in the past, in order to get a certificate of completion and grade for the class, the student must complete all homework assignments. This is imperative if the student is to get the maximum benefit from the class. If your student is not going to be able to attend a class, I ask that you notify the teacher in advance. It is the responsibility of the student/parent to make arrangements to get any homework for days that are missed.
Parents are always welcome to sit in on a class and there is a nursery area where you may wait for your student if need be, however it is asked that all toys and other items be put away when you are done and no siblings are allowed in the classes while they are in session.
There will be a clean up day scheduled in the spring as one of our ways of saying thank you to the church for the use of the facility. A date will be given out after the holidays, however please plan now on helping out.
Drama’s play is set for April 29th, please make a note of that on your calendars.
