Hi, My sister sent me this link from Reader's Digest. They run a contest for 4th to 8th graders and the national winners compete for college scholarships.
go to: http://www.wordpowerchallenge.com
The contest is open to homeschoolers to compete, but has a couple of minor hoops to jump. The 'local competition' has to have at least 6 kids in each grade, the contest can't be administered by a family member, and the group pays $50 to register.
Now, I know that I'm new to ABQ and with an 11 yr. old, I'm not part of the co-op, but was wondering if there might be enough interest in trying it. If we charged a buck or two per child, that might cover the $50.

I would be interested. I have a 4th grade boy. Can you register in multi-grade level groups? I can probably find a couple friends who would like to do it as well. Keep me posted!
