Sorry this is a little late - got it on another board and thought it was also posted here.
The classes begin January 14. They are $49.00 for the session (11 weeks I believe) Sorry am posting this for another person. We need 12 more kids for the cost to remain $49. If you are interested please email me asap

I found this in another post - sorry to post twice. But here's all the info including info of how to contact Tabitha (she's the one kind of organizing this)
Okay I spoke to Kristin at Explora today again and she sent me a syllabus of classes, etc. these would be split into two classes, one for grades K-2 and one for grades 2-4, she said these would be able to run concurrently for those that have siblings in either class such as myself who has one of each! Anyway, these classes would be on Tuesday mornings from 10-11 AM and would run 14 weeks and cost $3.50 per student per class ($49 a semester) the fee is not the same as the older kids because the class time is not as long. We only need 16 kids to sign up for each class to do this! So please email me if you are interested and I will add you to a list for each class you are interested in! Give me your names, kids names and a number to be contacted at......If we get more kids than 16 we will cross that bridge when we and if we get to it! I think this is a great deal to get out and have some fun with some kids and do science and just think of the experiments they can do at someone
else's lab, not that I mind the mess but a few less drops of stainable fluids would be nice! Below are the syllabi for each class:
Explora Home School Custom Explorations Series (gr. K-2)

1.24.06 Air, Air Everywhere: Have you stopped to marvel at the wonders of the air around you? In this class students will “catch” air and see that it takes up space, use air to do work, and learn about the power of air pressure. Bubbles, pinwheels and paint help us understand more about the air that is everywhere!
1.31.06 Discovering Triangles: It’s time to give triangles the attention they deserve! In this exploration students discover the different kinds of triangles and their importance. We also use triangles to build three-dimensional objects.
2.07.06 Chemical Changes: What’s the difference between a physical and a chemical change? How do simple mixtures differ from chemical changes? Students explore these differences and investigate several fascinating chemical changes.
2.14.06 Balancing Act: Can you balance on one foot? Test out your sense of balance as you balance yourself and a wide variety of interesting objects.
2.21.06 Do Animals Play Hide and Seek?: Playing hide and seek with some camouflaged animals helps us understand how their natural environments disguise them. After discovering the importance of this type of defense, students design some camouflaged animals of their own.
2.28.06 How Does Your Garden Grow?: Plant seeds of wonder in your students! Discover the origin of a plant by dissecting a seed and finding out what makes it grow. Sow seeds of continued interest by taking student plantings with you to observe at school or at home. This exploration will grow on you!
3.07.06 Forceful Magnets: Investigate which items are attracted to magnets and which are not, and explore attracting and repelling with a wide variety of materials. Students make their own magnets, race magnetic cars and more.
3.14.06 Mirror, Mirror on the Wall: In this exploration students investigate reflection and symmetry as they compare their images in concave and convex mirrors, build kaleidoscopes, and make symmetrical art to take home.
3.21.06 What’s that Sound?: Explore sound waves and observe how they travel through water or air. Students feel vibrations caused by sound waves and experience these waves doing work.
3.28.06 No class due to Explora Spring Break Camp/APS Spring Recess
4.04.06 Simple Machines: Test your strength with levers and pulleys, and experiment with ways simple machines make work easier in this powerful exploration.
4.11.06 Pebbles, Sand and Silt: Get ready to sort rocks, dig in sand, explore clay, and look for living material in garden soil. Students discover how water runs through different earthy materials when they participate in the soil race!
4.18.06 Bodies in Motion: This full-bodied class sets students in motion—both physically and mentally. What else is in the starry sky besides the sun, the moon, and the earth? New stars may be born as students understand more about our sun’s family and explore how other worlds move.
4.25.06 Beautiful Bubbles: Use a variety of materials to experiment with bubble-blowing, and build shapes to test in different bubble solutions. Students observe the colors in a bubble and make colorful bubble prints.
5.02.06 Floaters and Sinkers: Roll up your sleeves and experiment with fruits, vegetables and other solids and a variety of liquids to classify floaters and sinkers. We’ll modify materials to make them float or sink, and design a foil boat that will carry a cargo of pennies.

1.24.06 Be a Rock Star: This isn’t about music; it’s about geology! Students use microscopes and loupes to discover the main types of rocks, and perform a series of tests to unearth a mystery mineral.
1.31.06 Acids and Bases: We use acids and bases every day. What’s the difference? Students prepare an acid-base indicator and compare relative strengths of some common acids and bases.
2.07.06 Discovering Trianges, II: In this exploration students discover the different kinds of triangles and their importance. We also use triangles to build three-dimensional objects and begin to explore the perimeters and areas of these objects.
2.14.06 Shocking Discoveries: Shock your students into learning with a simple touch of the Van de Graaff electricity generator! Energize their understanding of static electricity with this hair-raising class full of empowering experiments.
2.21.06 Exciting Electricity: Use batteries and wires to make bulbs light up, and explore open and closed circuits. Then, make a gigantic complete circuit you won’t forget!
2.28.06 May the Force be with You: They repulse, they attract! Students experiment with pairs of magnets to find magnetic objects, create their own magnets, learn about magnets’ properties and behaviors, and find the earth’s North Pole.
3.07.06 Kaleidoscope-Crazed: Explore the amazing properties of mirrors, lenses and light and discover all the wonderful images and colorful patterns you get when angles and symmetry come into play. Students design and build their own unique kaleidoscopes.
3.14.06 Will it Sink, or Will it Float?: Density is the property of matter that determines whether objects float or sink. Students compare the densities of salt solutions, and make a submarine that both sinks and floats.
3.21.06 Good Vibrations: Catch a wave…a sound wave, that is! Students experiment with vibrations to learn how sound is produced and how it acquires its specific qualities. Find out how sound travels through various materials and how to tell whether it is coming or going.

4.04.06 Pigments of Your Imagination: Do artists need to understand chemistry? Explore the art/science connection by using pigments to make your own paints. Then use your handmade paints to create an original work of art.
4.11.06 Power Plant: How does a plant eat? In this exploration students dissect, observe and simulate plants in order to explore the methods in which plants produce their own power. From the roots up, we’ll investigate the complete plant system.
4.18.06 Go With the Flow: What is Bernoull’s Principle? Spray water, levitate a ball, and make an egg jump from one container to another to find out why airplanes fly and birds soar. The science of fluid dynamics is a great way to engage your students’ natural curiosities and connect to the world around them.
4.25.06 Chance or Lucky Guess?: By flipping coins, rolling dice, picking marbles from a jar and collecting data, students generate data and analyze it in order to develop a hypothesis on the probability of a specific outcome for both dependent and independent events.
5.02.06 Crazy about Chromatography: Inside an ordinary black marker is a rainbow of color waiting to escape! Students investigate how paper chromatography is used to separate the components of mixtures, and test colored markers, food coloring, and candy to see what unexpected colors each contains.

| This class has now been filled, as of today, barring one person we are waiting to hear from...there is the possibility that there will be more classes opening up on a different day for those that did not get into these, I am going to call on Monday and inquire! Wonderful to meet so many new people! And I am looking forward to this class....Tabbi |
