We are excited to announce that a WALDORF PRESCHOOL CO-OP is starting.  Our first gathering will be on Tuesday, April 18th from 10:00am -
noon.  We will have a sample of what the preschool will be like for the
first hour and then discussion for parents the second hour while the
children play.  We are interested in hearing about your needs, interests,
gifts, etc.  This first meeting will be held in Corrales.

We will have a similar gathering on Tuesday, April 25th in the South Valley,
10-noon.

We hope most of the interested parents can make it to either one or both of
the meetings.  If you are interested, but cannot make Tuesday mornings,
please let me know and we will schedule an additional meeting time.  The
preschool is not set to be on Tuesdays; that is yet to be determined.  Also,
even if your child is younger than 2, please feel free to come to add your
input as we try to create this together.

Here's more info on what we envision:
-The preschool would be for children roughly 2-6 years old.
-We hope to start out one morning a week and by fall be running 2-3 mornings
a week, and who knows what will happen from there...
-We would like to eventually be organized enough to let parents periodically
drop their kids off and leave for the morning.
-We have a number of retired Waldorf teachers and retired Waldorf
homeschoolers who will be actively involved.
-A typical morning will include circle time with songs and movement, some
sort of activity (craft, hike, cooking, cleaning, caring for animals, game,
etc.), snack and then free time to play.

I am looking at starting to homeschool my 4 year old this summer.  I have had a day care in my home for the past 2 years.  I am not familar with the waldorf  preschool.  Would you suggest that this could help me out!!

regarding the cost: we hope that the preschool cost will be at a very minimum.  initially it won't cost anything except perhaps parents chipping in for supplies and contributing snacks, small stuff like that.  if there is enough momentum, we have a small building we will renovate that would hold up to 12 children.  then costs for utilities would be a bit more, but i can't imagine very much.  and since its a co-op with parents and retired waldorf teachers volunteering their time, we shouldn't have formal fees for quite ahile.  at least that's the vision at this point.  please come to one of the meetings to give your input!

regarding helping to homeschool: come to the meetings and you'll get an idea of what homescq2oo

regarding helping to homeschool: let me try this again without the help of my one year old  if you come to the meetings, or actually any of the mornings once we formally get started, you'll get an idea of what homeschooling a preschooler waldorf-style is like.  plus you'll get to talk to a retired waldorf kindergarten teacher (which is typically for ages 3 1/2 - 6).  i can imagine just coming one week a morning could really inspire you and give you lots of ideas for homeschooling.

Hello,

We are very interested in the Waldorf approach and have a 4-yr old boy. My husband is the homeschooling parent and former teacher (actually still has an active NM elementary teacher's license). One or both of us will attend your meeting. We are still on the homeschooling learning curve and probably always will be

Thank-you! Please let us know if we can help with anything.
