This is for anyone who has children aged 9 - 15 who want to join a youth choir. My 11 year old daughter has been wanting to be in a choir so we've been looking - but the times or places for practices haven't worked for us so far until we found this - so I thought we'd share the info. http://www.symphonye.com/soa/index.html (Bottom of the page - it mentions an audition, but Charles said it was really just so the choir leader would know where to place the child - Alto, Soprano, etc.)
I called Charles at 296-6009 and he told me the Choir Leader is Julie Smith and that choir practices will be held on Fridays from 4 - 6 pm and will start on the last Friday in Sept. and run through the middle of Dec. The cost is $125 per semester (Sept - Dec) and they meet at Covenant United Methodist Church at 8510 Wyoming Blvd. He said there was no expectation of joining the church or anything like that. The choir performs at Christmas with the adult choir and also performs with the Albuquerque Symphony at some point. There may be a few other performances throughout the semester too?? Charles said they only have about 6 kids signed up to join at this point and they are hoping to get more kids so if this sounds like something you'd be interested in, please give him a call.
