Scholastic sells kids books at very good prices. You might remember them from when you were a kid at school, like I do. Only teachers (or homeschoolers) can place orders with them. The normal thing is for teachers to get 30 copies of the scholastic catalog, pass them along to their students, then collect the money and order forms from the students and place the order.
On the recommendation of my homeschooling sister, I registered with them last year and requested a few catalogs. Now I'm inundated with them. They never send just one, but always 30 copies! I have shared these catalogs with my playgroup and a few friends, and we've ordered many books from them. We've accrued so many "bonus points" that we're soon going to be able to get a free collection of 100 books to give to charity (Ronald McDonald house).
So, why am I talking about this? Because I want to encourage any of you who are interested to visit the scholastic web site and consider registering. Also, I just received several different scholastic catalogs for the new school year and I'm going to bring them along to our Monday class and share them with whoever wants them. I'm happy to place orders for any of you who do not want to register with scholastic yourselves. I want to emphasize I DO NOT MAKE ANY MONEY FROM SCHOLASTIC ORDERS. The only thing "teachers" earn is points towards more books, and I will always use those points to donate books to charity.
Several of the scholastic catalogs I'm bringing have special offers for choosing a free book with your first order. I'll be placing the order from these catalogs on Sept 30th. |
