I'm posting this for Ian Ford, who originally posted it on the Yahoo NM Homeschooling message board and gave me permission to list it on his calendar. I was going to go, but my son Eric just broke his arm and isn't really up for it now. The rest of this message is his:
Dont forget to schedule the water group - wednesday mornings! There are several interested people but no one in the age range I suggested below, so we'll make it for any age range that would like to come.

***JOIN THE WATER GROUP*** (North Valley, Alb.)
I'm hosting a 10-session program on WATER on Wednesday mornings, and I'm inviting home/unschooling families to come and play, build, watch, dig, ponder, and/or get muddy. At my new house, I'm in the process of making a site design for high intensity farming, digging irrigation ditches, and planting trees. Ultimately this will be a super-efficient low work system yielding a variety of food and will be lovely to be in. I want to share this design and building process, because it may inspire others to do greater things.
There will be some structure to each session: I'll probably show the group something to start off. For example, tree roots, effects of pruning, irrigation control, the path of water from its source, or something along those lines. If my bees are still being attacked by wax worms, I can show that. Then we'll have a project, like testing soil permeability, or building flow control gates, or planting, or designing your own house and gardens. Finally we'll have a discussion circle.
I'm not asking for any money. It's not any specific curriculum and there is no evaluation. Participation is optional. It is just meant to be social, fun and possibly inspiring.
DATES: Wednesdays starting Aug 20th through Oct 22. (10 sessions)
TIME: 9:30-11:30 AM
PLACE: See map at http://www.ianford.com/maphome.html (3110 Ninth St NW.)
WHO: I'm thinking mainly of kids aged 6-13 or so, but older kids and adults are welcome.
CONTACT: Ian Ford, 246 8490
RSVP: Please let me know if you might come (at the last minute if not earlier) so I can let you know in case of cancellation or rescheduling. |

| This sounds great, but I think my kids are still a little too young to appreciate it (4 & 2). |
