Just wondered if anyone knew of a cub scout troop for the younger boys, around age 4-5? Or if anyone had any contact info to find out about one.

Thanks!

No, but I would be interested if there was one available.  If I remember correctly, I checked the boy scouts site awhile ago and it stated that Cub scouts started at age 6.  My son is age 5 so I put it on hold.  However, if you find out anything different, please post.  Thanks

As a committee chair leader for many years, I can tell you that cubscouting is designed for boys ages 7 to 11 or 1st grade thru 5th. The boy starts out as a Tiger Cub and progresses through Wolf, Bear, Webelo and Webelo 2, where usually in February of the 5th grade, or age 11, a boy will "cross over" into boy scouts.

The Tiger cub program is designed for the Tger cub and his adult companion to work together to do the activities and progress through a workbook and achieve the patches that are then iorned onto a t-shirt uniform. The other programs do not call for as much parental involvement, but of course volunteers are always welcome.

Neither of your boys are old enough based on the age levels you mention, yet for future reference the number in Abuquerque is 345-3437. A web address is http://www.scouting.org

Coming from a family of Eagles, cub scouting and scouting, all the way through, require a family  commitment.  I have lots of memories from my brothers' scouting years.  It isn't something where you leave the kids for an hour or so with their den leaders and pick them up later.  It requires your time, but I think the benefits are worth it.

Thank you for the information. What I found according to the Boy Scouts website Tiger scouts starts in first grade. I was thinking/hoping they would start as young as the girl scouts do. My BIL started his own troop last year for my nephew who was 5 years old, a kindergartener. I don't think I can pass my 4 yr old off as a first grader. Next year he'll meet those qualifications. I've always stayed with or been involved in any activity or class my kids have. I think there are a lot of benefits to boy and girl scouts, as well as a lot of fun for the kids.

Curious to hear if there are any homeschoolers Cub Scout troups in the area for my son who is currently a Wolf.  We will be moving mid stream and was wondering about how to integrate him in the ALB area.  My husband is active with our group here, but not a leader.  Any thoughts?

TIA!!
