Join us at the Aquarium on March 21st to experience a mobile exhibit to learn about the Rio Grande River. The animals and plants that live along the river. There will be hands on games and an on stage performance artist. This is a free event, yet we MUST HAVE 100 STUDENTS to be able to do this, therefore we will be combining with other groups to meet the minimum requirement. This is open to non-members who are homeschoolers.
You will first go into the Education Bldg to start the class and then proceed to the back parking lot to the BioVan.
We are limited to 40 students for each of the following time frames, to get the time frame you want, sign up asap.
Time frames are as follows: Sign up with Shannon at potamus@comcast.net for the first 3 time frames,
2 Years old to K 9:15 - 10:00
1st to 2nd grade 10:00 - 11:00
3rd to 4th grade 11:00 - 12:00
Sign up with Lisa at fullhousewithsix@aol.com for the last 3 time frames,
5th to 6th grade 12:30 - 1:30
2 year olds to 2nd grade 1:30 to 2:30
3rd to 6th grade 2:30 - 3:30
YOU MUST SIGN UP, if you show up without signing up, you will be turned away. We are keeping a list of those who sign up, this is for the materials that they will prepare for us.

Lisa, I forgot to ask, does this event include admission to the Aquarium, also? Or would anyone wishing to go into the aquarium have to pay admission to get in? Thanks so much!  |

Welcome to BioVan Home School Day!
The BioVan is a free exhibit that teaches about the Rio Grande and its plants and animals. We also talk about the connections between living things and their environment and the importance of conservation. We are glad you joined us today!
BioVan Exhibits Schedule Room 3
TIME GRADE 9:15-10:00 Pre – K 10:00-11:00 1st – 2nd 11:00-12:00 3rd – 4th
12:00-12:30 Exhibit closed 12:30-1:30 5th – 6th 1:30-2:30 Pre – 2nd 2:30-3:30 3rd – 6th
We have also prepared optional activities for students and parents to enjoy before and after the BioVan presentation. The activities and schedules are listed on the reverse. The map below will help you navigate between activities. Please arrange for students to be accompanied by an adult for the self-guided activities.
Guided Activities with the Teaching Artist Room 4

Self-Guided Activities
Hands-On Activities Room 1 Activities include puppets, conservation games, sensory boxes, a giant map, simple science experiments and more fun and games!
BioVan Mural Scavenger Hunt Located outside next to BioVan The mural on the exterior of the BioVan tells the story of the Rio Grande’s journey. “Easy” and “Not-So-Easy” versions of a mural scavenger hunt are available on the table next to the BioVan in the back parking lot. Quiet Activities Room 2 Activities include art projects, Rio Grande worksheets, puzzles, and a reading corner with books about water, animals, and conservation.
Bosque Hike Maps are located in this hallway See the Rio Grande for yourself! Talk a walk in the bosque. Maps with points of interest are located on the table down the hallway. The hike starts from the gate in the back parking lot.
Movies Room 4
Time Movie 10:00 The Water Squad (13 minutes) 11:00 The Water Squad (13 minutes) 12:00 The Water Squad (13 minutes) 1:00 The Water Squad (13 minutes) 2:00 Special Showing!!! One River, Many Voices (40 minutes) The Water Squad is a short film from the CABQ Water Conservation Program. One River, Many Voices is a movie about the Rio Grande with many interesting stories and beautiful cinematography. (A short version of the film plays daily in the Aquarium.)
Admission to the Albuquerque Aquarium and Rio Grande Botanic Garden is not included with the BioVan Program. You are welcome to visit either or both today. Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for children, ages 3-12. Children under 3 are free.
