Our 4th annual library surplus children's book sale will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2005, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Over 20,000 books will be offered for sale at only 50 cents ea. Admission is free. On Monday, August 1st, from 10 a.m. - 12 noon (or until books are gone), all remaining items will be offered FREE to teachers, non-profits, and community service organizations. Anyone picking up free books must bring credentials (such as a teacher's ID) or a letter from their organization. Home-schoolers may also pick up free books but must bring appropriate registration/certification.

| Thank you for sharing. I missed this last time. I don't want that to happen again. Will this be at the main library? |

| Yes, at the main library downtown, I think in the basement. Arrive early, the books are pretty much gone by the end of the day. |

This should be fun. The kids and I love the library and they will defintely go nuts being able to buy library books. They always hate returning a book they really love. With luck we will be able to fill at least one book bag. Now to just buy more bookshelves. lol

Some problems I had the last few years I've gone: buying so many books that it was hard to lug them back to the car (bring your husband, or exercise restraint when buying!). Also, once we get the books home, they look just like library books and sometimes we accidentally return them to our branch, so I spend some time now cutting the cellophane and stuff off of them to make them look less like library books. I feel almost guilty doing it, I have such a strongly ingrained rule against damaging library books. |

Instead of cutting the cellophane and what not off you could just take a permanent marker and cross out the numbers on the spine of the book, or place your own stickers over where the library has put theres. Hubby will be working that day I am sure. He hasnt had a Saturday off in months. |
