I'm looking for feedback about Latin programs.  Just curious if anyone here as any experience teaching Latin at the elementary school level?

Sorscha has always been interested in Greek and Latin.  She has not been learning them to actually speak either, but she's been using the roots to help identify words with all her science oriented projects.  I cannot believe how much I have learned just by playing games with her.  School would have been so much easier.  haha

Here are the ones we have hanging around:

Rummy Roots Game(s)

English from the Roots Up...the is a book. There are also premade cards that we purchased.

Latin's not so tough!

Prima Latina-Introduction to Christian Latin (the type spoken during Catholic mass)

Sorscha does not use any of these as a curriculum, so we cannot speak for that.  But, she has learned so much just by reading them and playing.  I think that we purchased all of these through Rainbow Resource.

Have fun.

I can second Rummy Roots, we have it and it's a fun game. Also, we have a book bought at amazon called Words on the Vine that has wookbook-type activities that are fairly enjoyable.

I know you were looking for a full course, not just roots, but these may be an enjoyable supplement. Good luck!

Thank you both for your thoughts!  I keep hearing good things about Rummy Roots, so I'm sure we'll use that to supplement at some point.  But I do want more than *just* a roots program, because fluency is our goal.  Still, fun supplements to help us get there, that's always a good thing!
