Hi - just curious if anyone has used this and what you think of it?  Was considering buying it for DD 6 to use with her math. She becomes easily bored with things.  I was hoping "mixing it up" might help keep her focused and prevent burnout.   If you have used this please give input.  I'd hate to spend $31.50 for something she might not like.
Thanks,
Jo-Anne

Hi Jo-Anne.

If she is bored with the math program she is doing, you might not want to buy the CD that is based on it.

You might also want to check your daughters learning style (there are 7 choices).  It also could be that she is not a pencil/paper girl and that is why she gets bored....then the audio/visual CD might just be her ticket.  Sorscha does have the CD but never gets it out.  That might be because she has many, many choices at her disposal, so I could not actually tell you why she does not.  Hmmm, let me ask her real quick.  PAUSE

She just says that, "she does not like it....just because".

When we realized Sorscha's learning style and then switched up her life, it was amazing how much she enjoys things now.

Also, when people respond to their kidlets liking a particular item, curriculum, etc....it does not necessarily mean that your brilliant girly will.  When we first started our journey (we were Classical Education back then), everyone said that we just had to get Spelling Workout, Sonlight books, among a ton of other things.  Sorscha could not stand most of them.

So, maybe instead of spending the $31.50 you could find it on ebay or something for a lot less money.  Or maybe take the money and buy a learning styles book and then move on from there.  I know that really helped with our decisions in the beginning.  Now, Sorscha picks everything on her own...so fortunately I don't have to be involved and make the wrong decisions for her interest and waste our families money.

Good luck!  Isn't this a great journey!!!!

Joanne, is this the math software designed for Singapore math? My son loves Singapore math, but he (and I) weren't all that thrilled with the Rainbow Rock software. It's ok, and there are plenty of activities, a few of which were interesting. I'm just not sure it was worth the money.

We have it somewhere, if you ever want to give it a try I'd be happy to lend it to you if I can actually find it.

Here is my two cents... Sophie loves her Rainbow Rock PC game (just asked her...).  She has a lot of other things to do too, but she will put it on for fun sometimes without being asked.  I guess it is just up to the child and their learning style.  We use it for fun and not as a "must"  so that is probably why she likes it.  Good luck with your choice!  I know that there are a lot of people who could let you borrow this and try it out before you buy it, and maybe that is your best option.

If anyone has a CD they are not using and would like to loan or sell  to me I would be interested.
Thanks,
Jo-Anne
