A group of us were talking about typing at the park the other day. I mentioned that I re-taught myself to type using the Dvorak keyboard layout instead of QWERTY. (The letters on the keyboard are in different, more ergonomic, places with the Dvorak layout.) It's easy to change your computer to recognize another layout without having to actually buy a new keyboard or anything.
My kids also are learning (or will learn) the Dvorak layout instead of QWERTY.
If anyone wants to read more about Dvorak vs QWERTY keyboard layouts, here's a place to start: http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/devlin/404. |

Thanks Elizabeth,
I discovered that it is already on my computer as an option and I can toggle back and forth between Dvorak and Qwerty by pressing Alt+shift! Way cool!
Now we will see if my typing improves! Karen |

Well, it'll take you a while to retrain your fingers to press keys in a different location, but then you might see some improvement.
My typing did really improve. Plus, I used to occasionally get carpal tunnel, which would take months to clear up. Doesn't happen now! |
