The recent Alibi published a very informative article about recycling in Albuquerque.  Here it is in Adobe Acrobat format . . . everything you could want to know about Albuquerque's recycling program. . . and recycling LOCATIONS are listed here, too!

Cool, Carissa, thanks. I am still looking for a place that recycles alkaline and other batteries. I feel terrible throwing those in the garbage, with the quantities my son and husband use between them. But I have not been able to find a place yet.

I was once planning to try and set up a fieldtrip to the landfill and recycling facility, but somehow it never got off the ground. I might go for it when we get back and I cn get enough people. We'd probably have to bring clothes-pins to put on our noses, though

Wow, that would be very interesting . . . how eye-opening would it be to see that?!  Nowadays, we're so removed from our waste . . . it just conveniently disappears!    Or so it seems . . .

My moms club went on a tour of the waste management facility a while back. I didn't go but they said it wasn't "stinky". The kids got to see (play on, maybe?) on a huge mountain of recycled glass...

Thanks for that link, Carissa, it answered some questions that I'd had about recycling here in Albuquerque that I never could figure out who to ask.

Hello there,

I was just looking at my water bill today and noticed a phone number to call for tours to the recycling facility.  I would be interested in doing this.  I also might be able to commit to setting it up if there is interest & if no one else is already doing this (Ginou?).  Some one can commit me (ha!) if there is interest.

Hi Jennifer (and Ginou),
We'd be interested in going!  One of Dane's chores is taking out the recycling everyday... just from the kitchen counter to the garage  .  It would be nice to show him what his efforts help with.
