I don't see a sticky for websites, so I'm starting a new thread for it here.
Thanks, Elizabeth!

Hi,
I thought you might be interested in this site for kids' health. It has a lot of topics that are really geared on a child-friendly level. Topics are not only about illnesses, but feelings, growing-up stuff... It really has a ton of stuff!
http://kidshealth.org/kid/feeling/index.html I copied this from my mom's club. It is a great science resource when teaching the kids about the human body! Check out the games. It even has great recipes including recipes for children with food and milk allergies. Shannon |

Great for map-lovers:
http://nationalatlas.gov/natlas/Natlasstart.asp
Interactive make-your-own map. You can choose the area you want to map, and then choose from hundreds of things to put on your map, including population density, historical info, roads, crime and/or pollution data, and tons more. Unfortunately, it seems to think that the only town in NM is Santa Fe, but maybe I just didn't play with it long enough. |

Someone on another list I'm on recommended this site -- Duke University's "Learn on Your Own" (LOYO) program. (Relatively) inexpensive classes for looks like grades 4+.

http://www.starfall.com.
This has been a great resource for us.. We are doing the Learn to read section of the website. It uses different descriptive language for phonics than we've been using, but it seems to still be complementing all that we are doing. Additionally, you can print out writing pages that correspond to the reading you just completed... Some days Matthew just does one of their lessons for reading and writing.. He thinks it's fun and he's taking a break from "real" work! |
