Hello...  I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for teaching reading.

Thanks!

For phonics, 2 good primers I know of are Phonics Pathways from Dorbooks.com and the Ordinary Parent's Guide to Teaching Reading by Jessie Wise of The Well Trained Mind.com.  I am using Phonics Pathways along with the BOB Books which are currently published by Scholastic--there are 5 boxes of these in the series with 8-12 books in each box.  I am also using the Explode the Code series of workbooks because my son likes to DO something!  These seem to be very effective for him and his current learning style.  We started with the Primer ETC books just to be thorough.  These are called Get Ready For the Code-Book A, Get Set For The Code-Book B, and Go For The Code--Book C.  Then, it goes to Explode The Code Book 1, 2,3, etc.  They also have the 1 1/2, 2 1/2, etc. for extra practice.  And finally, they have Beyond The Code 1-4 for reading comprehension.  I haven't used those yet so I can't say anything about  them.  I hope this helps.
