Got some pics to share of Jackson in Lax Camp. He's making some great friends and enduring long, but much loved, days learning and perfecting his Lacrosse skills.
With one of John's UNM Lacrosse player, Michael Mooney's business savvy and the skills and support of another past player/assistant coach, Jeff Eichman, John has helped bring forth the 1st ever Lacrosse camp in the state of New Mexico!!
My hubby, John is having a blast coaching all the kids, whose ages range from 9-18 years old. They are all very dedicated and enthusiastic about the game and learning all they can, and it's exciting to watch them playing scrimmage games.
Two news stations have shown alot of interest and Ch7 will be broadcasting about the Lax camp tonight (Thurs) at 10pm. And Van Tate (and old friend of John's) from CH 13 will be at the HighLand High School's field broadcasting about the camp tomorrow(Fri)!! The kids are doing some special scrimmage games to show off to family and friends.
This is just one of the first steps at bringing organized Lacrosse to the Junior and High School levels in New Mexico. John organized the University of New Mexico's Lacrosse team in 1996 and is excited about getting it going in the High School and Junior High levels. He also would like to open the game of Lacrosse to the Homeschooling community if there is an interest.
If anyone wants to check out the camp, it's right off Jefferson , just south of Central, at Highland High School's sport's field. There is parking right in front of the school, next to the fields. Check it out!
Oh yeah! I almost forgot, but this evening's great CH 7 News Report reminded me that *next week* will be the Girl's Lacrosse Camp...same place: Highland High School, from 9-5:30 all week. My hubby is coaching the girls camp a few days next week and the kids and I will probably be there one or two days, too.
