Shred Day
Meet Radio Disney AM 1240 at Wells Fargo, 6000 Menaul NE (by Coronado Mall).
Moms and Dads can bring all sensitive documents to be shred while the kids play along with Wells Fargo's Jack the Dog and Radio Disney AM 1240!
We'll have free Radio Disney AM 1240 goodie bags and free food, too.

Jazz: Celebrating it's History @ Cherry Hills Library
A discussion of the history of jazz from 1900-1975, featuring samples of Dixieland, swing, bebop, cool jazz, hard bop, avant garde and jazz rock fusion, led by Mark Tatum from UNM’s Music Department. Mr. Tatum teaches Double Bass and Jazz Studies in addition to being an experienced classical and jazz musician who has performed with many notable figures including Rosemary Clooney, Herbie Mann and Wynton Marsalis.

Read to the Dogs
Would your child like a patient, attentive friend to read to? Read to the Dogs provides an opportunity for your child to read to registered therapy dogs in a relaxed atmosphere.

Southwest Canine Corps of Volunteers bring registered therapy dogs who sit calmly and quietly for a story. Children can practice reading out loud without fear of judgement. It's a great way for children to gain confidence in their reading.

Please register in advance. Reading sessions will be first come, first served.

Event Description:
This is a family event! Let's take the youngsters to THE
GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH AN UPSIDE-DOWN WORLD. Thursday night
April 26th @ 7:30pm at the Santa Ana Star Center. The tickets
are $12.00 per person this includes children's tickets unless
there under two and there going to sit on your lap. We need to
buy our tickets ASAP so we can get good tickets because this is
opening day. This should be alot of fun.

HEADS UP!

Balloon Summer Camp at the Balloon Museum is coming up!   Pre-register now because it will fill up AND there is a 10% late fee after May 15th.  Here's the details:

Balloon Summer Camp.   Learn about ballooning history, piloting, crewing, navication, weather, and more through hands-on experiences at the Balloon Museum!   There will be four separate 5-day sessions targeting specific age groups.  For more information about these sessions and other details, contact the office at 880-ofoo.   Enrollment is $150 but scholarships ARE available.   The camp session are held between June 4th and June 29th.

Learn what you can do to protect New Mexico's resources. We will have knowledgeable trained exhibitors on hand to talk to children and parents about steps and precautions to be included in their daily living. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about innovative technology including, sustainable agriculture, conservation, biotechnology, energy and water use.

Kid’s Earth Day will:
1.  Showcase New Mexico Environmental steps taken to protect our resources.
2.  Demonstrate environmental steps and precautions to be included in our daily living.
3. Demonstrate innovative technology, sustainable   agriculture, conservation, biotechnology, energy, water use, and other innovative production techniques.
4.  Provide education activities during non-fair times for the public.
5.  Provide a team of knowledgeable trained exhibitors in eco-management willing to educate the future generations in environment friendly practice.

ShowFest 2007 is a competition of 13 show choirs representing high schools primarily from the greater Albuquerque metropolitan area.

We anticipate over 300 high school students will participate in the competition!!!

As a chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, the Duke City Chorus has the vision to “lead the cause of encouraging vocal music in our schools and communities.” To this end, the members of the DCC organize youth outreach activities such as ShowFest as a service to our younger generation, our schools, and our community.
