AVAILABLE ANYTIME, by appointment, are very inexpensive studio portraits by JCPenneys. I visited their website and printed off coupons for $3.99. No sitting fee for the first person, no hidden BS. I think this is an appropriate event because we so frequently forget to be family historians and it's important to capture as many portraits as possible of our families/kids. If you know of other inexpensive studios with high quality and seasonal themes, please let me know. Just offering a tip, not advertising for them necessarily.
The Sandia Mountain Natural History Center will host a series of Earth Day nature walks and hikes at their beautiful East Mountain education preserve. Choose an easy one-mile family outing (10 a.m.), a moderate one-mile bird observation trip (9 a.m.) and a more challenging, three-mile inclined hike (10 a.m.). Pack a lunch and hit the trail! Reserve your spot at 281-5259 or SMNHC@qwest.net.
