Events include a tractor drive, fun run, awesome music festival and opportunity to experience wildlife up-close. Additional events and games for kids at Rich Ford in Edgewood. Fun for the entire family!

Barnaby Bear Star Gazer Party
Join HCS Creative Endeavor's for a free educational community event! Barnaby Bear's Star Gazer Party will be held Aug. 25th at the Paradise Hills Park! Join us for star gazing, hands-on educational activities, crafts and games. Barnaby Bear, the literacy bear, will be the "star" of the evening. He will teach kids about the night sky, read a story, and sign autographs, while spreading the word that "Readers Are Leaders!" Activities will be provided by Radio Disney, Rio Grande Astronomical Society, ABQ Rocket Society, New Mexico Kids,Albuquerque/Bernadillo Library, ABQ Ride, and the Albuquerque Home Learners. Join the Boy Scouts at their "Camp Adventure" booth. The Girl Scouts will also be at the event to teach kids how to make silly putty as part of their "Girl Scientist" booth! The City of ABQ Parks and Recreation will provide a climbing wall and World Balloon Promotions will be at the event with a HOT AIR balloon! Barnaby Bear will look forward to seeing you there! PLEASE BRING A BOOK TO DONATE!: We will be collecting children's books to donate to ABQ RIDE's "Discover A Book Program" as part of our Barnaby Bear and Books Literacy Program. Books we collect at this event will be placed on the city buses for children to read while riding the City of Albuquerque's Transit system! Hinkle Family Fun Center will offer a coupon in exchange for book donations!

Activities Live Salsa music throughout the day and evening, a chile roast at the San Felipe de Neri courtyard that will also feature delicious homemade Mexican specialties for sale, lots of fun activities for children and the opportunity to stroll and shop throughout the entire Old Town area will attract thousands of area residents, as well as visitors to our community.
Best Commercial/Professional Salsa Competition Some of Albuquerque's biggest salsa producers are preparing to compete against one another for title of "Best Salsa" at the this year's event. Best Homemade Salsa Competition Do you think you make the best homemade salsa in Albuquerque? If so, enter the Homemade Salsa Competition. To enter just download the application form (1 MB pdf), fill it out and submit the form along with the $25 entry fee to one of the addresses listed. All participants are required to attend a City-provided class on preparing and serving food to the public. This class will be held at 3:30 pm, Tuesday, July 31 at South Broadway Cultural Center. Good luck, and may the best salsa win!
Our Folk Art Festival is August 11 from 11am-4pm in Robinson Park. It's a wonderful family and community event, so be sure to come. It starts with a giant puppet parade at 11 am, followed with live music, belly dancers, art tents for kids, 75 folk art vendors, food vendors, etc. It is a fabulously fun event! If you want to be a vendor, please come in soon to sign up at OFFCenter, 808 Park SW. If you'd like to volunteer to help before or during the event, please call (247-1172) and let us know.
