Several of you are interested in an arrangement where your kids hook up with other kids to study together regularly. I'm calling them "study buddies". I'd like to be able to offer our members the opportunity to find compatible study buddies. How often the buddies would meet, whether it would be primarly work or play time, whether the kids would share curriculum, whether a parent could use the time like a babysitting co-op to run errands -- all that it up to the individuals involved.

With all the other decisions going on, it's amazing you have room for more creative ideas like this! I think it's a great idea. :)  

J.T. took his GED and now there's only Lynne, age 8. She loves math, science, music & art, though she likes American Girls and loves horses. She gets so enthusiastic about school when she's learning in a small group that I've wondered if homeschooling her alone is really the right thing to do. We used to "do school" with 2 other girls every day, but since we've moved out to Edgewood, she's pretty much been alone. Kwon & I started the NM Homeschool Coop to have joint classes with a sort of "unit studies" approach, and they still meet out in Tijeras, but the age range that it has become doesn't meet Lynne's needs anymore. Lynne's grade level ranges academically from grades 3-6 with reading to math, respectively.

So are we talking arranging "classes" together? (Unschoolers can call this "opportunities to be exposed to some ideas and see where the kids take it" :) hehe)  Or just buddies who meet individually? If the latter, does anyone have a son/daughter that seems to match some of Lynne's interests? By any chance, living in/near the East Mtns? ;)
