Due to some mishaps with the heavy but unstable furniture at our current classroom (at Heights Cumberland Church), we're looking for a more suitable place for our weekly classes. Please reply with suggestions or let me know how you feel about the following possibilities:
There's a smallish meeting room (holds 30 people or so) near the front door at Cherry Hills library. Unfortunately, the nice room in the back where they do storytime is not available (to anyone, I presume). Pros: You can combine the class with a library trip. There are some decent chairs, tables, and white board in there. Very close to a restroom and drinking fountain. Cons: Not available on Monday, our regular meeting time. It is available Tuesday mornings.
There's also a meeting room at the Lomas Tramway library. Pro: Very nice carpeted room in the children's section of the library. Cons: Not available any morning except Wednesday as of now. Kind of a long drive for anyone on the west side.
There's also another room at the Cumberland Heights Church that might be more appropriate for us. As far as I can see, it's empty on Mondays. However, I still need to talk to the church about its availability.
Now... Should we try hard to stick with Mondays at Cumberland Heights Church? Or maybe try a few different locations at these libraries and have varied class days? Or can anyone suggest a likely alternative? |

Hi there! I've yet to attend a class as Mondays are not a good day for us. I would be able to participate if there was a Tuesday or Wednesday class! I look forward to meeting those going to the upcoming zoo activity. Shannon D. |

We're getting anywhere from 3 to 6 families attending, usually averaging 4 or 5. That means about 5 adults and 10 kids (some toddlers or younger) at a typical class. |

Do you think with such a small group getting together regularly for the classes that we need a specific meeting place and time? Maybe we should consider hosting these classes in our homes, and should the group grow to a size that won't fit in a home then we look more seriously for a different place to get together? Then we can just plan something on any given day..... ???? Just thinking. (we haven't made it to any of the classes held at this church, but intend to. We changed our library time on Mondays to a later time so we can come play with the group and get to know these families better!) ) Sarah |

Well, we originally were hosting at people's houses. (Remember that rather chaotic music class at my house?) But then we were thinking we were growing a little too big to fit in people's houses so we got the church location.) For some reason, the group didn't grow much after that, so maybe we should go back to meeting at houses instead, at least some of the time. I think maybe I'll do the crafts at my house, since it's easier to clean up there than at a classroom. |

Rio Vista Church at Paseo Del Norte & Golf Course offers free meeting space to anyone, and are almost always available during the day. Two homeschool groups have met there for several years. This year they are not because of the families' differing needs. Some evenings may be available, too. Sounds like it may be farther than what you're used to. They can be reached, however, at 898-8205, you will probably speak with Barbara Clinton. |
