I saw the Children's Fair on the calendar for next weekend, and I was wondering if someone could tell me more about it. I've never heard of it before. Thanks

I took the kids last year and I was a bit disappointed. Nearly everything cost money. The inflatable slides were 50 cents to a dollar to ride. Most of the displays were items for sale. TJ's camera had a free photo with their assistance dog. The kids looked very cute! One of the TV stations had a photo opportunity where the kids could get behind a news desk and have a polaroid picture taken. That was good, too. Sandra's School of Dance did an excellent performance. I did hear that the previous year was terrific. I have no idea what it will be like this year. I hope it goes back to the way it was in previous years.

I myself haven't been for several years, I hope that it to is as good as I remember from years past. There is a lot of stuff that you can buy, that's true, and yes you pay for the small amunt of "rides" that they have, it's mostly bouncers and slides. However it's much cheaper than a fair that we are used to. There is food to buy, and lots of exhibits. I remember that one was by Smiths or Raleys and they had the Little Tikes shopping carts, and the kids got to "shop" and then "pay". For a 5 or 6 year old, it was a blast. There is also lots of freebies (or was) pencils, rulers, coloring pages, stickers, etc. There is a charge to get in, but usually one of the grocery stores has coupons for a dollar off admittance. And usually the sponser such as Blue Bunny was, gives out free ice-cream too. It is vendors trying to sell there stuff, some of it very educational, like DK Publishing, and can be used as supplemental curriculum. It's definitely worth a try atleast once.
