Does anyone have information to share about standardized testing?  Do you use it?  If so, what tests?  What do you think of the tests you have used?

My step daughter will be exiting public school this year and because of ongoing legal battles, I think we will use tests to track her progress while Homeschooling.  I believe that Terra Nova is the only testing she did with APS and was hoping to use the same tests if possible.  However, I have been unable to find information on Terra Nova testing and am unsure if it is available for Homeschoolers.

Thanks.

With our curriculum we need to test at the end of every year, even though it isn't required by state law. The ones we use are the California Achievement Tests published by McGraw-Hill.  They seem OK I guess.  I haven't had any other experiences though.  Were you going to administer it yourself, or have a 3rd party do it? Does the HSLDA have any info on where parents can get standardized tests done?  Sorry I was not too much help.  I'll look into it some more and get with you about what I find out.

The curriculum we use is Seton and they offer Standardized Tests to parents even if they don't use their curriculum. http://www.setonhome.org
I also know of http://www.familylearning.org and http://www.baysideschoolservices.com

I was hoping to administer it myself and keep it simple, but so far the ones I have found all seem to have requirements that I do not meet in order to do so.

Actually Angelica, you were a lot of help.  The last site you listed clarifies that Terra Nova, (the test APS uses and I was hoping to use) is not available to homeschoolers.  Now I just need to find one that I want to use.  I am hoping to test her at the beginning of this school year and then at the end of each year from now on.

Any recommendations or information on standardized test you all offer will be greatly appreciated.
