SOL ARTS MULTIVERSITY ANNOUNCES  
ONGOING CLASSES
get your week Glowing!



Creative Movement:
Taught by Kristen Loree,
Accompanied by John Bartlit
Saturdays 10-11 am
For children 4-11
This class explores the emotions thru rhythm, movement and music.
Please wear loose clothing and thick socks, we will not wear shoes.

Stage Combat:
Taught by Miguel Martinez
Saturdays from 10-11AM
Stage violence has two purposes.
1) Engage the Audience
2) Service the Characters
In this class we will explore the basics of building a stage combat "scene" on stage. Each move must be like a line of duologue starting with the feet up. Early
classes will be devoted to understanding the fundamentals and developing footwork skills. An added benefit is that this work is GREAT for the legs!

Voice Moves:
Taught by Kristen Loree
Saturdays from 11:30-1
This class based on Fitzmaurice Voicework develops the voice as an expressive instrument with many yoga like poses to inspire breath, relaxation, articulation and range, no previous experience necessary. You will need to wear loose comfortable clothing and bring a towel or small pillow.

Acting for Kids:
Taught by Annie Giannini
Saturdays 1-2 PM for ages 7-12
This class is a series of exercises designed to grow the blooming actor. Using the techniques of improvisation, creative drama and story telling the student will explore many perspectives and give voice to them all.

Juggling 101:
Taught by Billy Garberina
Saturdays from 2-3PM
"Juggling is as easy as walking!" If you have two arms, two legs and at
least one partially working eye, then Billy can teach juggling to you!  
Based on the simple three ball cascade and simple human kinestetics,
Juggling 101 will cover many theories and aspects of juggling from single object manipulation through multiple object shenanigans. Juggling 101, to bring out the ambidextrous rubber faced goon in you!

Family Yoga:
Taught by Page Moran
Saturdays from 4-5PM
Finally a class everyone can attend. Bring the whole gang a few towels and loose clothing and get your bodies moving!

Kenpo Karate:
Taught by 2nd Degree Black Belt William Garberina
Saturdays from 3PM-4PM
A comprehensive Chinese martial arts system including kicks, punches, blocks,
throws, grappling, ground fighting, weapons as well as physical conditioning, mental awareness, conflict de-escalation and threat assessment.  Simple self defense for maximum effect!

Acting for Adults:
Taught by Kristen Loree
Saturdays from 4:30-6PM
For ages 13 and up
This class is designed to take adults deeper into the art and skills of the craft, some experience necessary. Monologue and scene work will be geared to the participants.

Public Speaking for Non Actors:
Taught by Kristen Loree
Thursdays from 5-6PM
This class is designed to introduce methods of preparation and execution of presenting your professional self to the public.

Annie is a senior + in the theatre department at UNM. She has been working with the Ovation Wrinkle Writing Program in schools throughout the city for the past year as well as participating in many shows with children.

Billy has 10 years experience teaching/learning Kenpo Karate under John Patrick Nieto. He is a second Degree Black Belt as taught through the perspective of Kenpo Karate  Billy is a proficient juggler, having studied under master jugglers for the better part of the last 6 years,

Kristen is an Associate Teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework as well as a 15 year professional teacher, performer and director. She holds an MFA in acting from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Kristen is the Artistic Coordinator for Sol Arts.

Miguel has been performing and choreographing stage combat since 1988 starting with a background in Martial arts Miguel studied Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido. Miguel studied under David Bouschey founder of theSociety of American Fight Directors.

Page holds a BA in dance with a special love for kids and yoga. She has spent the last 10 years practicing Hatha yoga and teaching dance with ABQ Montessori, Dance Academy of Santa Fe, UNM Theatre and Dance Camp and Sol Arts.



All classes are $10

I didn't realize when I posted this that they are also launching a project that is designed specifically for homeschoolers.  Here's that info:

Sol Arts Multiversity is proud to announce:

The Home School Project
where elementary level students will write, rehearse and perform their own
work with the guidance of Kristen Loree and John Bartlit.
Kristen is a home school parent, the Director of the Ovation Wrinkle Writing
Program at the University of New Mexico and a teacher of theatre and movement
for all ages.
John is a professional musician, dance accompanist, composer, home school
parent and teacher of music.
Together they will integrate their special talents with those of the students
to provide a unique problem solving experience not soon to be forgotten. The
fall program will culminate in performances at Sol Arts for the public.

Sessions will meet Tuesday and Thursday mornings
from 10-11:30 at Sol Arts 712 Central SE (just west of the freeway, between
Elm and High).

We will begin Sept 28 and open the show December 10 and run DEC 11, 12, 16,
17, 18 & 19.
We will not meet October 14 or Nov 25.

Cost for a single student is $200.00,
siblings cost is $100.00 per.
