Hi,

I just spoke with Audra of the homeschool co-op; she suggested that I go to this message board to find groups of homeschoolers/unschoolers with an age range that would include my 11 year old son.  Does anyone know of a neat network of folks with some older children, too?  Thanks so much!

My kids are younger, but one place you might try is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NewMexicoHomeschooling/
It's a pretty big yahoo group, and you may find kids of similar ages there.  I think that there are quite a few unschoolers in that group, if that is what you are looking for.

I have a son that will be 11 in May and an 8 yo.  I don't really know of any groups per say.  I have also have a hard time finding groups/friends in the homeschool community with older kids and boys in particular.  We have been going to the homeschool science club this year and there are a fair number of older boys there most times, but it is not really a social activity.  But they do great science activities.  Feel free to contact me as well.  We recently moved into the NE Heights.

What's this about notifying APS about home schooling by April 1st?  We just got here last week and I don't have my act together yet to notify them.

I think that it is "within 30 days of the establishment of a homeschool, and each year thereafter on April 1st"

So I would think that you don't have to worry.  You ust haven't "established" your homeschool yet!
