Hi All:

I have an 8th grader in RRMHS right now.  I am not happy with the curriculum and want to join http://www.k12.com to complete the 8th grade.  We are getting ready to PCS (military move) to Virginia and fear this move will be a difficult one for our daughter.  Switching her in the middle of the year I mean.

Has anyone heard of the http://www.k12.com program and is it a good program?  I am not sure how to homeschool (honestly).  How will I know my daughter will learn what is needed?  What needs to be recorded for school registration should I put her back in public scholl in the 9th grade.

I think there is a form that is required to be completed 30 days prior to removing a child from public school.  Where can I locate this form?  Any help will be appreciated.

It is a "school-at-home" program.  If that's what you're interested in, it might work great for you.

The NM Public Education Department has a web site at http://www.nmhomeschools.org. On that page you'll find a link to the online notification form (the one where you register your intent to begin homeschooling within 30 days of leaving the public schools).

I've heard of K12 but don't know anyone who's doing it. It's a large corporation and has official backing in a lot of states as an alternative to public education, so I'm sure there are simple ways to get your daughter's tests and such transferred from K12 to her new school.

Good luck!
