I have not checked this for accuracy, I am just forwarding it for anybody who would be interested. It sounds more like a parent and Big Kid thing.

According to the local paper the U.S. Forest Service,
Bureau of Land Management, New Mexico State Forestry,
and the Otero County Fire Services are hosting the
Wildland Fire Academy on April 7th through 9th. It
is free and open to everyone including food and
lodging (simulated wildland fire camp) at the
Sacramento Mountain Retreat in Mayhill, New Mexico.
To pre-register you can contact Gus Marker by phone at
439-2612, or by email at gmarker@co.otero.nm.us

That is a beautiful area in the Lincoln National
Forest and the classes sound interesting. They will
be covering Maps, Compasses, GPS, Incident Command
Systems, Portable Pumps, Air Operations, Fire Tool
Kit, Fire Strategies, Sand Table Exercises, Radio
Operations, and Staging Area Management.
