Pre-Algebra: Students are typically 12-13 years old. Day/Time – Tue, 9:30-11:30; First day of class: Aug 29, 2006 Textbook is $70. Supplies: Bring pencils and a notebook with lined and/or unlined paper. Classroom Description: The basic curriculum will be supplemented with hands-on learning, critical thinking problem solving and timed math tests on all basic operations.
Algebra: Students are typically 13-14 years old Day/Time – Wed, 9:30-11:30; First day of class: Aug 30, 2006 Textbook is $70 on a rental basis. Depending on the condition in which it is returned you will be reimbursed for 50%-75% of the value. Supplies: Bring pencils and a notebook with lined and/or unlined paper. Classroom Description: The textbook includes more material than a typical Algebra I course and all topics will be covered. Lessons will be supplemented with critical thinking problem solving and many Algebra examples from ACT and the new SAT.
Geometry: Students are typically 14-16 years old Day/Time – Thu, 9:30-11:30; First day of class: Aug 31, 2006 Textbook is $70 on a rental basis. Depending on the condition in which it is returned you will be reimbursed for 50%-75% of the value. Supplies: Bring pencils, straight-edge, compass and protractor. Also bring notebook with lined and/or unlined paper. Classroom Description: The textbook is a very complete high-school level geometry course that includes construction and formal proofs. The text contains examples from the old SAT, but this course will be supplemented with examples from ACT and the new SAT.
