Hi there!

I am throwing out a rather odd, funny request that may have you shaking your heads!    Johnny is looking for old/broken electronics to dismantle, dissect, and to mess around with - he is utterly bored of Legos, K'Nex, and all of the "silly" (he calls 'em) construction toys I've bought him . . . he wants the real deal!  Engineering runs in this family and we're in need of any description-fitting pieces you have to offer.

If you'd like, please name a reasonable price and I'll be happy to meet it and pick these up (even if from your curbside, hee-hee!)

Thanks ladies!  I'll be posting this to "swap meet", too, and understand if I should move this over to that board instead.    What a nutty thread for me to start, eh?    The things we do for love!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mother of a mad scientist who has a screwdriver in his hand and thinks this is the most urgent thing in the world right now,  Carissa

Here's the plan:  I'm going to set Johnny down in the middle of a $5 plastic swimming pool with his electronics and hand him a screwdriver and say, "I love you son and I'll serve you meals all day today (although you may not notice my comings-and-goings and you may not even taste your food since you'll be so focused) so I'll see you sometime tomorrow, sweetie - have fun!"

That's the plan.  He may not utter a word for hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I'm gonna miss him!

Carissa,
I have an old answering machine he can have.  It is one with old tapes so has lots of screws, buttons, etc.  Possibly an old computer as well.  Let me check with my husband to see what parts he thinks will be o.k. for him to dismantle.  I'm thinking free would be a good price and maybe I can meet you somewhere to pass them off since we live on the west side.
Thanks,

Carissa,  We have lots of old broken electrincs.  I have one of those mad scientists in our family as well.  I don't know how many times over the years I've heard from my mother-in-law about how her son (my hubby, Justin) took apart this phone & that VCR, etc.

Anyway, we could donate to your cause.  Although Justin pionts out that there can be hazardous materials in various electronics that Johnny should be protected from.  He really should use latex gloves & a dust mask.  Justin does suggest a simple corded phone might be the best starting place.

Feel free to call us (296-1133) or send a note any time.

Jennifer

Thank you for those pointers, Jennifer . . . luckily, my hubby is an electrical engineer and he'll be the perfect supervisor for these dissections . . . Johnny's so excited, thank you for your offers!
