Yungchen Lhamo will present a lecture/Q&A about her native Tibet.
There will be many more acitivities, including workshops, dance lessons, demonstrations, and hands-on activities. The Global Village will be open all morning too.
The following artists will be performing at the National Hispanic Cultural Center for �Globalquerque! 2007. Performances will take place on three stages, all located at the NHCC. Enjoy the intimate courtyard setting of the Sal�n Fountain Stage, the state of the art 692-seat Albuquerque Journal Theatre and dance outside on the Plaza Mayor.
Performances start at 6 PM and the Global Village will be open into the night. There will also be FREE day programming on Saturday for families and adults, including workshops on music and folklore, crafts, and live performances.

On the second Saturday of each month, Lowe's hosts a building workshop for children, free of charge. Â I believe it starts at 10 a.m. and lasts one-hour.
On the first Saturday of each month, Home Depot offers the same sort of workshop between 9 a.m. and noon. Â (It only lasts that long if there's enough interest.)
These are free programs and great for both genders. Â Free aprons and eye protection are usually included and available for take-home. Â Certificates are personalized and offered at the end for successful completion of the project. Â Lowe's gives a patch and a sticker. Â Home Depot gives a pin for clothing. Â These are fun to collect and/or scrapbook. Â Take your camera . . . it's a hoot! Â Take advantage of it!
First Fridays Fractals: In the LodeStar Planetarium
On the First Friday of each month come to the planetarium to behold the spectacular beauty and mystery of Fractals. Come and enjoy these fantastic creations and learn about the beauty of fractal patterns, fractal mathematics, Chaos Theory, and fractals in nature in this LIVE presentation in our 55 foot digital dome theatre. This presentation is entertaining for young and old alike and is guaranteed to educate and entertain all who watch!

Insects, Arthropods, and Arachnids: Search for and identify the creepy, crawly bugs of the Sandia Mountain Natural History Center.
The Sandia Mountain Natural History Center is an environmental education center located in Cedar Crest. The center teaches over 10,000 students a year about the Sandia Mountains, ecology and conservation.
Sandia Mountain Natural History Center's First Saturday Series The Sandia Mountain Natural History Center will be opening its doors to the public the first Saturday of every month between March and September. All Saturdays will include self-guided hikes, two hands-on exhibit rooms (Eco-Casa and Explorer's Center), and a bird viewing deck. Every month will have specific themes such as birding, guided hikes, and family days. Education sessions begin at 10:00 a.m. Special equipment such as GPS units, field guides, and binoculars will be available in limited numbers for check-out from the SMNHC staff.

The Chips and Salsa Half Marathon -- 10K, 5K and Kids K -- is the hottest run it town. This flat and fast course is a must for any runner or walker. This year's event will take place at the Los Amigos Roundup with a post race breakfast and entertainment for all participants immediately after you finish. A portion of this year's proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society -- Relay for Life events.

The apple harvest at Dixon's Mountain Apple Farm (in the Jemez Valley) occurs in September and October; but, you must contact them for the specific dates because the weather affects the apple harvest dates.

The Albuquerque Rocket Society launch site is 1 mile west of Progress and Rainbow in Rio Rancho.
Here are the directions to the site: From Rio Rancho, go West on Northern Blvd to Unser Blvd.
Turn Right on Unser and go north to King [past Paseo Del Vulcan].
Turn Left on King and go west through the development. At Rainbow there is a stop sign and the pavement ends. Proceed another 1.1 mile West on King to Sheba. The street sign was down; it is a Right turn just below the crest of the rise.
Turn Right on Sheba and go north across the arroyo [see map]. The arroyo is quite reasonable, if it is not you are probably on the wrong cross street and should take a street to the west of the one you are on. Sheba makes two bends to the left after the arroyo. At the end of the 2nd bend turn Right [now north] on 8th Street. This sign was also down. The launch site is at the T intersection on the north side.
