Dog Training for Kids!

(Ages 8-1  Assistance Dogs of the West offers summer programs to teach students to train dogs for people with disabilities.

In these classes, students have the chance to learn to learn some very important and useful skills for leadership in working with dogs. Here’s a short list of what students can expect to get from this course:

Since 1995, students in Santa Fe and Albuquerque have had the opportunity to enjoy in-depth, hands-on learning with Assistance Dogs of the West professional assistance dog trainers. Curriculum includes: Training in classroom settings and in the field; leadership and assertiveness skills, basic dog obedience training, service-dog commands and skills, public access training, disability awareness education and community interaction. Classes are open to kids ages 8 to 18, and are limited to 8-10 students per class. Classes run from September - December 2010.
