This was emailed to me from someone in the homeschool band:

If you have a 6th or 7th grader and are interested in the Air Force
Research Laboratory STARBASE program, you can contact Lee Crowder at
792-2133 or svcrowd@msn.com ASAP.  The Starbase program consists of a
series of five nonconsecutive curriculum days during the school year
where the students learn about properties of air, flight simulation,
model rocketry, and Newton's Laws of Motion.  The classes are taught by
volunteer scientists and engineers from the AFRL.  The best part -- it is
absolutely FREE.  

I just spoke with Lee (woman not man) about this and right now she is in the "can I get enough participation" stage of this event.  If you are or might be interested please give her a call or send her an email.

You may laugh at me stretching my rusty moderator wings, but here goes!       Within the next 48 hours, I'll be relocating this thread under the "Local Homeschool Resources" board so that the general public can find it, too; it keeps our semi-sacred "Co-op Discussion" board focused upon co-op-member-only event planning so it's easy to locate at-a-glance.
