This group is one of the longest-running homeschool groups in town! The kids have a great time learning public speaking in addition to holding office and being mutually supportive.
New time, new place, and new members!
Where: Erna Fergusson Library, San Mateo just south of Montgomery When: 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, 3-5. Who: All ages (!) from 1st to 12th grade, with several midhigh and high schoolers.
Cost: A whopping $5 to join Toastmaster's International plus about $7 for the workbook which lasts for years.
That's okay-It was APRIL FOOLs DAY and that made for a confusing meeting anyway! They did everything backwards, from adjourning the meeting at the beginning and calling it to order at the end, and also providing the evaluations before the speeches, etc. It was hilarious and great fun for the kids who know how it usually runs, but it would have confused the heck out of a first-time visitor!!
About the Gavel Club (Homeschool Toastmasters):
Meeting: 1st and 3rd Tuesdays 3-5pm Erma Fergusson Library (San Mateo & Montgomery)
Catherine, it was great to meet you! We are excited to join and "test out" if Johnny is ready for this now or later on . . . Thank you for your phone number and your willingness to answer any questions . . . so glad you told us about this!
Albuquerque Gavel Club is an official group of Toastmaster's International.
Join us for a FUN way to learn public speaking skills!! For grades 1-12, this group has plenty of teens and tweens and lots of laughs. They practice public speaking, hold office (President, VP, etc) and basically run the meetings themselves! New Toastmasters are provided a "buddy" (a more experienced Toastmaster) to help show them the ropes, plus they receive a workbook to help them plan out their topics. Free to come visit, and only $5 per year if you want to join!
We meet at the Erna Fergusson Library on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month! As a parent, I can vouch for this group's effectiveness: Mine went from crying if she had to get up in front of a group to giving science presentations to judges and teaching classes too, and she's made a lot of friends and fond memories along the way. Come see what fun we're having! 3pm-4:30 Tuesday! Questions: 489.2880
