Greetings!   Thanks for your interest!

At a glance, Homeschool Heroes are homschooled kids who want to do scouting-like, positive projects for the betterment of mankind and themselves.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Debuting in Albuquerque, New Mexico and its surrounding areas in 2008 . . .
. . . an all-homeschool club for boys and girls of all ages
launching within the Albuquerque Homeschool Co-op

Homeschool Heroes

You're wondering, "what is this all about?!"

1.  It's a club/team WITHIN the Albuquerque Homeschool Co-op (but also open to other local homeschoolers).

2.  It's a best-of, design-it-as-we-go-along scouting, community service, friendship, and more "club" or "team" for hometown homeschoolers who want to do these things but haven't yet found a club they're really in-line with.  (i.e. boy/girl scouts, 4-H, Lion's Club, Key Club, Kiwanas etc.)

3.  It is parent-facilitated, kid-inspired, and will maintain a transparent agenda of fun, growth, and friendship (in the same spirit as this co-op).

4.  It is a club that allows us to register as a "non-profit organization" so that we may enjoy perks such as access to facilities who may use us as a tax-write-off.

5.  It is a come-and-go club with a strong, positive face . . . easily embraced by the community . . . so that we may build new alliances and strengthen existing ones.

6.  It doesn't require any commitment . . . it's truly just a fun way to present self-goal-setting with a build-in acknowledgment system (for those who are encouraged by that kind of set-up).

Instead of offering a ton of "new activities" designated specifically as "Homeschool Hero activities", we will primarily piggyback upon already existing activities.
Also, these projects are totally parent-and-child regulated (in simpler terms, parents-and-kids set their own goals and guidelines).

What I'd mainly like to make available through this concept is to offer a "group" or "cause" you can identify with and/or rewards the kids can "earn."
We could easily use the boy scout and girl scout badges (the generic ones like "the cooking badge").

Also, I'd like to offer customizable certificates that you can download, at your convenience, as they are "earned."
Additionally, I'd like to organize a "Homeschool Heroes" banquet occassionally in which we work together on a project.

Is this something that might fit into what you are already doing?
ie.  Would this COMPLIMENT activities you are already doing with other groups, etc.?

I'm keeping this vague on purpose because the nature of it is so casual and customizable.
It doesn't require any commitment . . . it's truly just a fun way to present self-goal-setting with a build-in acknowledgment system (for those who are encouraged by that kind of set-up).
