THE CURIO COWBOYS SUN, 11/9 , 3pm-4pmCOSTUME PARTY!!! The Curio Cowboys is an Albuquerque-based band who plays songs of the great regional Western Swing bands of the ‘30’s, 40’s, and ‘50’s. Western Swing is mostly dance music with an up-tempo beat consisting of an eclectic combination of rural, cowboy, polka, and folk music, blended with a jazzy “swing”. Everyone is encouraged to show off your best western ware as you dance, swing, and move at this fun-filled concert.

On the first Saturday of each month, Home Depot offers the same sort of workshop between 9 a.m. and noon. (It only lasts that long if there's enough interest.)
These are free programs and great for both genders. Free aprons and eye protection are usually included and available for take-home. Certificates are personalized and offered at the end for successful completion of the project. Lowe's gives a patch and a sticker. Home Depot gives a pin for clothing. These are fun to collect and/or scrapbook. Take your camera . . . it's a hoot! Take advantage of it!
On the second Saturday of each month, Lowe's hosts a building workshop for children, free of charge. I believe it starts at 10 a.m. and lasts one-hour.
First Fridays Fractals: In the LodeStar Planetarium
On the First Friday of each month come to the planetarium to behold the spectacular beauty and mystery of Fractals. Come and enjoy these fantastic creations and learn about the beauty of fractal patterns, fractal mathematics, Chaos Theory, and fractals in nature in this LIVE presentation in our 55 foot digital dome theatre. This presentation is entertaining for young and old alike and is guaranteed to educate and entertain all who watch! This presentation has been produced by the Fractal Foundation and is being presented in coordination with your local, friendly, world class planetarium: LodeStar!

Scientist Len Duda will present a voyage to the sun and some of the planets and small bodies in the solar system in this slide presentation and free-form discussion. See amazing pictures that show how the sun’s activity affects us; learn about the likelihood of an asteroid hitting earth; and enjoy fascinating images from space! This is a great family event that is ideal for kids, “The Moveable Masterpiece” gives everyone a chance to try their hand at painting on canvas – Community Style! We will have a wall of canvases with imagery started by Jude Pacheco, one of OffCenter’s local artists. Everyone is invited to paint and contribute to the finished product however their artistic desires call them. No experience needed. No critics please. Just join and have fun with your community.
