The 2008 Cross-Country Season is about to begin! We are looking forward to the new season, our 11th and invite you to register

located on the east side of Juan Tabo Blvd NE between Montgomery and Spain.
Returning 2008 AAT athletes will not need to fill out a new registration form for cross-country.
The AAT sign-up fee is subject to change due to uncertainty of facility usage charges.

The current fee for returning AAT Athletes is:

$125 for the cross-country season team membership
$20 USATF membership card
(AAT athletes who ran track & field in spring 2008 already have a USATF membership card, everyone else will need a new one.)

(If you already have an AAT uniform including the teal top, you don't need to purchase another)

The current fee for new athletes is $200 and includes:

$5 equipment fee
$10 AAT Team T-shirt
$20 United States Track & Field Card,
$40 for an official AAT uniform top and running shorts
$125 for the cross-country season team membership.

A copy of the athlete's birth certificate and the sign-up fee is needed for registration.
Team warm-up sweats and other apparel will be available for sale.
A limited number of older style team sweats will be available for sale at a discount on a first come first serve basis.

Age Groups
The Albuquerque Athletics Track (AAT) team is a track & field and cross-country team for athletes age 5 to 18.
The age groups for competition are divided by gender and are as follows:

Age Group
Birth Year
Race Distance

Sub-bantams
2000 & earlier
1000m

Bantams
1998-1999
3000m

Midgets
1996-1997
3000m

Youth
1994-1995
4000m

Intermediate

5000m

Young Men & Women

At the State, Regional, and National meets, there is no Sub-Bantam division, so Sub-Bantams will need to run as Bantams, and do the full 3K-race distance.

Practices
The first team practice date is Monday, August 25th. Practices will be held at John B. Robert Dam Park. John B. Robert Dam Park is located on Juan Tabo Blvd. NE between Spain and Montgomery. The Dam is located on the "EAST" side of Juan Tabo just north of Manitoba and south of Spain. Practice times are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 5:30 PM. Practice times will decrease in length as day light savings time ends and light permits. All practices will end by 7:00 PM. It is extremely important that parents are prompt in dropping off and picking up your athlete(s) at the practice field.

Parking is located at the base of the dam.  Please enter and exit traveling on the north bound lanes of Juan Tabo.
There is not a designated left turn bay on the south bound lanes of Juan Tabo for entrance onto the dirt lot.

There will be no practice on the Labor Day holiday.

Parents are encouraged to work out on their own during practice. AAT feels that running, walking and exercise in general should be a life style that the whole family can participate in and enjoy. We feel that your presence at practice will serve to encourage your athletes to train hard and keep them at their best behavior. However, we do request that the parents do let the coaches coach and train the athletes at practice and the meets.

Athletes should wear comfortable running attire, including good running shoes ($50-$100), sweats, jackets, gloves, and hats to practice and the meets. No rest room facilities or water is available at the practice site.  All athletes should bring their own water to practice. Always bring water to practice!

Cross Country Meets
The AAT meet will be held on Sunday September 21, 2008 at the John B. Robert Dam.  Local cross-country meets are held on either a Saturday or Sunday. The Meets are usually an all-morning affair and are very exciting for everyone. AAT athletes should bring water to the meets. AAT parents may be required to assist in working at these meets by helping with timing, picking and other tasks.

The schedule for the 2008 cross-country season will be determined at the August 13th meeting of USATF New Mexico. We will post this information on this web site http://www.aattrack.com/ on the Meets page. This information will be periodically updated, as the season goes on.

                                                          January 26, 2009

Dear Parents and Athletes:

Lucille and I hope you had a great holiday season and that 2009 is off to a good start.
Last year was another great year for AAT and once again AAT achieved a lot of success and remained a nationally competitive team and represented New Mexico very well in the Region and National meets with several athletes earning USATF All American awards and one of them (Will Stanopiewicz winning a national championship in the Bantam Boys 1500. Lucille and I hope that you will join us for the start our 12th season.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

We will start the 2009 season with registration on Sunday, Feb. 8th from 12:00 to 3:00 PM at the Eldorado High School Gym.
All athletes will need to fill out a new registration form for 2009. Due to the uncertainty of increases in stadium facility usage fees and uniform costs, fees are subject to change.  For returning AAT athletes with the black & white track uniform the fee is $195 (season fee, USATF membership card), the black and white track uniform is an additional $40.  Team t-shirts, along with team sweats will also be available for purchase. All AAT athletes will need to purchase a baton for $5 if they have not done so. I have a copy of your birth certificate on file so a new copy is not needed.
Pricing for team sweats and gym bag are subject to a minimum number of items ordered.
The sign-up fee for one new athlete is $255 and includes the season membership, USATF track card, equipment fee, baton, uniform and a team t-shirt.

PRACTICE AND MEET INFORMATION:

Our practice schedule for the season will be M/W/F at 5:30 PM at the Eldorado High School Track and will start on Monday February 23, 2009.
AAT will host a meet on Sunday May 17th at Eldorado.
The State meet will be on June 20 & 21 at Milne Stadium. The Region Ten JO meet will be held at BYU in Provo, Utah on July 8-11
and the National JO meet will be held at Irwin Belk Track – North Carolina A&T State University – Greensboro, N.C. on July 28th to August 2nd.

I hope to see you at registration and please bring a friend to join the team.
If you have any questions please give me a call at 275-8991 or go to the AAT web site at http://www.aattrack.com or email us at coach@aattrack.com .

Sincerely,

Coach Carl
