in case anyone is interested in homeschool art classes...jonas takes classes with miss. ophelia and really loves it.  he is in her friday class and will continue in february.  the original info is posted below.  i know the dates are old, but she is continuing to offer this series next month in february as well.  if you are interested give miss. ophelia a call.  

Hello parents

If there is interest, I will be starting a second homeschoolers art class on Wednesdays. starting on January 7 th.These will be 4 week sessions and will last 2 hours and begin at 10:00 am. Same as the classes I have been teaching at the Albuquerque museum for the last 8 years.
Ages are usually 7 to 11 but i am open to exceptions.
They will cost $ 56.00 a session per child and will include all materials.
The classes will be held at the Barelas Community Center (near downtown).

The way I like to break up the session, is to teach children a "Poco de todo", a little of everything.
The first week, I love to give them some of "the secrets" as I call them...(fundamentals of art which will help them feel successful while expressing themselves in all mediums).
The next three weeks will include : a multi-cultural lesson plan to give students an awareness of different customs  and how the art reflects them--a three dimensional art project (could be sculpture, book making recycled art...),  a famous artist (art project inspired by that artist).
Sometimes, I will also come up with a few lesson plans and have the students vote on their favorite for one of the weeks.

I also teach a class on Fridays.
I am also considering starting a class for 4,5 and 6 year olds wednesday afternoons from 1:00 to 2:30.
