ClickScholar Nancy Hogan recommended this website that is an amazing resource for learning about all 50 U.S. states.
You'll find demographic information that's great to use as a study tool - and fun, interesting, and unusual facts and trivia complemented by pictures and printable resources.

When you get to the site you'll see a blank map of the United States and below it is an introduction that explains what you'll find, along with some links to pages within the site that provide a good sampling of the content.

Use the menu on the left side of the screen to navigate the site that includes:

*Basics - State capitals, the origin of state names, state nicknames, etc.

*Symbols - See images of state birds, flowers, trees, mottos, flags, seals and more.

*Geography - Compare the area measurements of states, acres of farmland, mineral production, and natural energy resources.

*Economy - Find statistics on income, poverty, unemployment, cost of living, sales tax, and check out the U.S. Mint's state quarters.

*People - Learn about the people and population of the U.S. including Native American Tribes. You'll find a list of "Fat-Skinny States," state health rankings, life span, average IQ scores by state, politicians, and more.

*Culture - Looking for something fun to do in your state?
Get a list of activities, science exhibits, landmarks, natural wonders, architecture, and favorite state foods (with recipes).

*Photo Quiz & Map Quiz - Test your skill at matching landmark photos to the state where they are located.
Identify maps of states and various regions throughout the U.S.

*Printables - Print out state-themed coloring pages, word searches, crossword puzzles, Sudoku, mazes and more.

Have fun!
